Brandy Baxter-Thompson earned her law degree from Texas Wesleyan University in 2005, graduating in the top 15% of her law school class.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts at Austin College in January 1999.  She was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in November 2005 and admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern District in 2007.

Ms. Baxter-Thompson’s law practice focuses primarily on probate, guardianship, and divorce. She is a certified attorney ad litem through the State Bar of Texas and has been appointed by the Probate Courts to act as an attorney ad litem in numerous guardianship and probate cases. 

She is a member of the Probate Section and Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, the College of the State Bar, the Dallas Bar Association and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers (DAYL).  She served as co-chair of the DAYL Aid to the Homeless Committee from 2006-2010.  Also, she regularly accepts pro bono cases for the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP) in East Dallas.  In 2007, she was awarded the Outstanding Clinic Attorney Volunteer for the DVAP East Dallas Clinic. 

In 2006, she co-authored the paper entitled “Preservation of Error in Offering and Excluding Evidence,” which was presented by A. Michelle May at the University of Houston CLE on “How to Offer and Exclude Evidence.”  She attends numerous conferences in probate, guardianship, and family law. 

Brandy lives with her husband, Jason, in Lakewood.
