Brandy Baxter-Thompson earned her J.D. from Texas Wesleyan University in 2005, graduating in the top 15% of her law school class.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in International Relations at Austin College in January 1999.

Ms. Baxter-Thompson’s law practice focuses on family law, probate, and collaborative law. She is a certified attorney ad litem through the State Bar of Texas and has been appointed by the Courts to act as an ad litem and amicus attorney in numerous cases both in probate court and family court.

She is a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, the College of the State Bar, the Dallas Bar Association and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers (DAYL).  She has served as co-chair of the DAYL Aid to the Homeless Committee since 2006, and she frequently volunteers for the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP) in East Dallas.  In 2007, she was awarded the Outstanding Clinic Attorney Volunteer for the DVAP East Dallas Clinic. 

In 2006, she co-authored the paper entitled “Preservation of Error in Offering and Excluding Evidence,” which was presented by A. Michelle May at the University of Houston CLE on “How to Offer and Exclude Evidence.”  She attends numerous conferences in family law and probate. 

Brandy lives with her husband, Jason, in Lakewood. They own a 1928 Tudor duplex and share their home with their two cats, Phoebe and Ms. Boots, and their two dogs, Cliff and Sophie...
